Nature's Decree
Written by Asrar Bine Yaqoob
Men and Beasts lived side by side,
Both by nature’s law did abide.
Men with brains and Beasts with might
Measured Earth’s every depth and height.
Men with their intellect grew,
While Beasts only simplicity knew.
Men in every field advanced,
Beasts in harmony with nature danced.
Men full of prejudice grew corrupted;
The balance of life they disrupted.
Avarice in their world laid claim,
Beginning a painful, gory game.
Wars plagued the core of Men,
Casting them to chaos again.
Some thought a revelation at hand,
Others with absurdity took their stand.
Decency perished; remained only lies,
Haunted stood men before their own eyes.
Since then, decades have swiftly passed;
Tons of wealth the corrupted amassed.
Yet something lingers just the same:
A restless wraith none could tame.
Someone familiar—innocent—behind the veil remains,
Mouth dripping blood, bound in chains.
Men slaughter and enslave their kind;
Humanity no longer aligned.
Nature whispers its silent decrees—
Secrets only the Beast still sees.
I wonder what new will soon unfold,
Perhaps an ending yet untold.
Mankind will witness the forces at play,
Leading the earth toward her last day.
Asrar Bine Yaqoob is a poet and educator from Kashmir whose writing explores themes of love, loss, identity, and the quiet endurance required to navigate modern life. His poetry moves between lyrical introspection and philosophical reflection, often examining the tension between human emotion and the realities of a changing world. Drawing inspiration from both classical and contemporary traditions, his work blends moral inquiry with personal experience, giving voice to solitude, resilience, and the search for meaning. His poetry collection Echoes reflects a deeply personal journey through illusion, heartbreak, and acceptance, while his newer works experiment with rhythm, repetition, and existential themes that question routine, survival, and humanity’s place within nature. Alongside his creative practice, Asrar works as an English teacher, where language and storytelling remain central to his daily life. Through his writing, Asrar seeks not only to express emotion but to understand it, crafting poems that balance vulnerability with reflection and invite readers into moments of honesty, uncertainty, and quiet defiance.
